Fabio Bidini

 

Fabio Bidini made his NorthAmerican debut performing Beethoven's Fantasy for piano, chorusand orchestra, Op. 80 with Yoel Levi and the Atlanta SymphonyOrchestra at the ASO Beethoven Summer Festival in 1993. Heundertook two North American tours: the BBC National Orchestra ofWales in the United States and a series of recital and orchestraappearances in key cities extending from Mexico City to Juneau,Alaska. Mr. Bidini's New York metropolitan area debut recitalsincluded performances at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, theFrick Collection, the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts onLong Island, and a guest appearance with the BBC at the UnitedNations honoring the 49th anniversary of that institution. OnMarch 3, 1992, in a concert celebrating the 10th anniversary ofthe Barbican and the London Symphony Orchestra's residency there,Mr. Bidini appeared with the LSO under the direction of MichaelTilson Thomas in a performance of the Liszt Concerto No. 1 inE-Flat, joining other guest artists James Galway, BarbaraHendricks and Sir George Solti. This marked Mr. Bidini's firstofficial performance as a Steinway artist, and the inaugurationof the Barbican's Steinway Grand Piano. Mr. Bidini's orchestralappearances have included debuts with the New World Symphony, theDallas Symphony, the St. Louis Symphony, The PhiliharmoniaOrchestra of London, and the Budapest Symphony Orchestra alongwith others. In May of 1997 he made his debut in Carnegie Hall.

Born in Arezzo, Italy in 1968,Fabio Bidini began his piano studies at the age of five.Following ten years of private study, he enrolled in theConservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome where he graduated Magna CumLaude. He also studied composition at the Florence Conservatory.Mr. Bidini has been awarded the first prize in eleven of Italy'smost prestigious national piano competitions and has received topprizes in eight international competitions. Mr. Bidini's mostimportant teachers were Orazio Frugoni and Maria Tipo. Hisperformances have been broadcast on radio and televisioninternationally.
