Fabio Bidini made his North American debut performingBeethoven's Fantasy for piano, chorus and orchestra, Opus 80,with Yoel Levi and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra at the ASOBeethoven Summer Festival 1993. He undertook two North Americantours: the BBC National Orchestra of Wales in the United Statesand a series of recital and orchestra engagements in key citiesextending from Mexico City to Juneau, Alaska. Mr. Bidini's NewYork metropolitan area debut recitals included performances atLincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, The Frick Collection, theTilles Center for the Performing Arts on Long Island, and a guestappearance with the BBC at the United Nations honoring the 49thanniversary of that institution.
On March 3, 1992, in a concert celebrating the 10thAnniversary of the Barbican and the London Symphony Orchestra'sresidency there, Mr. Bidini appeared with the LSO under thedirection of Michael Tilson Thomas in a performance of the LisztConcerto No.1 in E-flat. This marked Mr. Bidini's firstperformance as an official Steinway artist, and the inaugurationof the Barbican's Steinway Concert Grand Piano. Mr. Bidinirecords for Encore Performance Recordings.
Born in Arezzo, Italy in 1968, Fabio Bidini began his pianostudies at the age of five. Following ten years of private study,he enrolled in the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome where hegraduated magna cum laude. He also studied composition at theFlorence Conservatory and piano with Orazio Frugoni. He hasfurther concentrated on specializing his technique on the greaterrepertoire with Mario Tipo. Mr.Bidini has been awarded the firstprize in eleven of Italy's most prestigious national pianocompetitions and has been the recipient of the top prizes ineight international competitions.
