Carlo Pezzimenti was born in Cleveland, Ohio. At the age of thirteen he and his family moved to Florence, Italy. It was at that time that his musical career began. He chose the classical guitar, inspired by Andres Segovia and the extensive repertoire of that instrument. Mr. Pezzimenti is especially drawn to works of the twentieth century by composers such as Manuel Ponce, Isaac Albeniz, Federico Mompou and Leo Brouwer. He has traveled extensively and performed throughout Europe, Latin America and the United States. Mr. Pezzimenti enjoys playing works that are rarely performed in North America. This recording articulates the entire eclectic range of this music, moving the listener to both delight and inspiration. These pieces allow the performer to extend the classical guitar to its most profound and hauntingly beautiful limits. In addition to concertizing, Mr Pezzimenti instructs aspiring students of the guitar at Texas Womans University in Denton, and at Brookhaven College in Dallas, Texas.
Mr. Pezzimenti's discography includes: Introducing The Classical Guitar of Carlo Pezzimenti, Essentially Pezzimenti, Pezzimenti Plays Tedesco, Ultimo Canto, Chiaroscuro, Meridional, and A Festival of Four Solo Classical Guitars.
Mr. Pezzimenti performed on three different guitars for this CD. Instruments by craftsmen of the highest caliber, Thomas Humphrey, Miguel Rodriguez and Ignacio Rozas, were chosen to match the different characteristics of each guitar with the various selections.
